Trekking Through The Green Abyss

Look at each of the pictures starting on page 2, and read any captions that accompany them. Answer the following questions. You will need to remember what you’ve learned about the five themes of geography.

1. Place-- What is it like where J. Michael Fay is traveling? (Think human and physical characteristics)

2. List the different animals that are shown in the pictures.

3. Location & Region--Draw a rough map of where Fay travels. Also, describe where this region is within Africa.

4. HEI-- How have humans affected the environment? List five examples.

5. In what ways do you see Fay traveling though the countries? Does this seem like an easy trip to have made, or difficult? Explain your answer.

6. Write a description (5-7 sentences) of Fay’s trip by putting the pictures together and using the map on page 11.
