African Travel Brochure
Congratulations! You have just completed our study on Africa and you are just can’t get enough! In fact, you were so mesmerized by the great African mystique that you are eagerly anticipating your first excursion to the “dark continent”. You have researched and found the perfect vacation destination within Africa including sites worth visiting, cultural taboos and insights, transportation tips, lodging ideas, and more. You are so pumped that you have decided to create a travel brochure to ensure that others will get the most out of their trips, too. For having never been there, you are amazingly confident that Fodor’s Travel Guide Company will be calling you to do the next version of their guide.
You should be referring back to your work on the unit and the African National Geographic articles to get ideas and details. Most of the research, however, will be done using the Internet. Provided for you are many helpful links, so please be sure to access these.
The travel brochure that will be created needs to be professional looking, but MUST be done by hand (no computer generated guides!!). There will be supplies provided in class for your use. There will be examples on hand for you to check out.
You need to include information on the following:
1) location of the country/region (you need a detailed map)
2) climate of the country/region
3) things to see and do while you are there
4) how to get around (modes of transportation)
5) currency and exchange rates (tips on wise money spending?)
6) typical regional foods
7) some background on the history of the country/region and its people
8) cultural customs
9) taboos (do’s and don’ts)
10) pictures, pictures, pictures
11) wildlife and physical geography
12) ethnic groups living there
